An Okotoks tire shop continues to wheel in awards for its expertise and service.

For the sixth straight year, Rim 2 Rim won gold for Best Tire Shop in the Western Wheel’s Readers’ Choice Awards and added silver for Auto Repair with its new mechanical service division coming to the forefront.

“We’ve got a good formula and it’s working and we’re going to keep doing it,” said Rim 2 Rim Tire owner Pat Kerrison. “It’s dedication to service, to the customers, to the high quality product and the skill and the expertise.

“Everybody here is highly-skilled, highly-trained and has a lot of experience.”

The kind of experience over 30 years in business comes from.

The company has operated in the community since first opening its doors in 1992.  “We’re all a little older, but we’ve got a lot of experience and everyone is dedicated to that top quality,” he said. “We’ve expanded steadily with our growth into more buildings and getting more products in and more services.”

One key addition to the business has been the launching of the mechanical division, housed at the building adjacent to the tire shop, where it offers service on steering, suspension, alignment and brakes.

“People can expect the same Rim 2 Rim quality they’ve come to expect with the mechanical division as well,” Kerrison added. “We’ve got very experienced mechanics, 40 years-plus.

“We’ve just got into that market and there’s a real need for it.”

With no businesses immune to the cost of goods and supply management issues present around the globe, Kerrison said they’ve mitigated those costs and will continue to do so.

“We stock a large amount of tires and buy a large amount of tires in one shot and we find we can keep the price reasonable,” he said. “What I’ve done for years, as products evolve through development and research, is we try to always improve the quality and try to reduce the cost and pass that onto the consumers.

“It’s a win-win for everyone.”

As drivers look for the right equipment to tackle the challenging driving conditions brought about in southern Alberta, the tire business is busy virtually year-round at Rim 2 Rim.

“We start about early March and our year goes full-tilt right until the end of January the following year,” Kerrison said. “And then even in our slower period, we’re quite steady. I only get about six weeks a year where I can put my feet up, it’s pretty rare.”
