It’s lucky number 13 for Simply Floors.
The Stockton Point business has been voted the best place to buy flooring by Western Wheel readers for the 13th year in a row in the 2022 Readers’ Choice Awards.
“We are extremely proud of that,” said Barb Mercier, who owns the business with Yves, her husband of 40 years.
“When you phone us and say, ‘Hey, you’ve won gold again,’ it really reinforces that we’re doing the right thing and we’re going in the right direction,” she said of the string of gold awards dating back to 2010.
Mercier attributes the response from contest voters to the way Simply Floors treats people when they come into the showroom.
“We go the extra mile for them,” she said. “We have a great relationship with our customers.”
Mercier said staff get to know many of the customers by name as the store has seen much repeat business over the past 17 years.
She said operating as an independent store means all decisions, from products and pricing to installation and ensuring customer satisfaction, are made at the local level.
“You’re dealing with the bosses,” she joked. “We're very competitive with Calgary prices; we can compete with anybody.”
Mercier said their four staff members as well as their sub-contracted installation crews, which work pretty much exclusively for Simply Floors, are all top notch and are dedicated to exceptional customer service.
As far as current trends in flooring go, she said most people come in looking for vinyl plank, although carpet remains a big seller.
“People like it (carpet) in basements and bedrooms and on stairs. It’s less expensive and goes in quicker and it keeps your basement warm.”
Yves, who has worked in many facets of the flooring industry dating back to his teens, opened Simply Floors with wife Barb in 2005. The store focuses on offering quality products and superb customer service.
Its showroom displays everything from tile, carpet and laminate to vinyl plank, hardwood and cork, all from major flooring suppliers.
