Volunteers still needed for Alberta Summer Games

Many volunteer positions still need to be filled as Okotoks and Diamond Valley get set to host the Alberta Summer Games July 20-23.

With just two weeks to go before they get underway, the 2023 Alberta Summer Games in Okotoks and Diamond Valley still have volunteer positions to be filled. 

About 1,500 volunteers are required to stage the Summer Games, which will bring 3,000 athletes and coaches to the area to compete in 14 sports from July 20 to 23. 

The Games welcomes all volunteers, although those 14 years of age and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Those interested in volunteering can visit 2023asg.com/volunteer to register. 

The following are some of the outstanding volunteer needs: 

ACCOMMODATIONS (vulnerable sector check will be required) 

• 1 Village Mayor (July 17 and July 20-23) 

• 10+ Village Supervisors (morning or evening shifts July 20-23) 

CULTURE 

• 10 for Taste of Okotoks (July 22 daytime) and Heart of the Games concert (July 22 evening) 

FACILITIES 

• 10+ Crew Set Up/Take Down (shifts between July 18 and 23) 

• 10+ Green Team (shifts between July 20 and 23 plus a training session with Town of Okotoks) 

FOOD 

• 10+ Food Centre (shifts July 20-23) 

SAFETY & COMMUNICATIONS (vulnerable sector check will be required) 

• 30+ Security (shifts July 20-23) 

SPORT 

• 20+ Athletics (for competition on July 21 and 22) 

• 5+ Football (for competition on July 22 and 23) 

• 20+ Triathlon (July 21-23) 

TRANSPORTATION 

• 40+ Parking & Traffic Control (July 20-23) 

• 10 Site Leads
