With less than a week to go until the Alberta Summer Games come to Okotoks and Diamond Valley, organizers are still looking for volunteers.

“If anyone is in the area and can put some time in, we’d definitely love to have them come out,” said Games manager Marica Borovich-Law. “We’re particularly looking for volunteers in transportation and security.”

She said one of the needs in the security portfolio is for volunteers at each of the venues to provide directions, ensure youngsters aren’t left unattended, help locate lost items and more.

“We're looking for individuals that are moms actually that can help people. So, it's more of a public relations role than a security role, if you know what I mean,” she said.

Borovich-Law said some volunteers are picking up additional shifts to help fill holes, but adding more manpower will lighten the load on everyone.

Anyone interested in volunteering can visit 2023asg.com/volunteer.

The Summer Games will see 3,000 athletes, coaches and officials descend on the two communities for competition in 14 sports from July 20 to 23.
