Live music is back.

The Divas Opera performed an outside concert at the Calgary Piano House on Big Rock Trail in Okotoks on Sept. 13.

The Divas, who are mezzo-soprano Barbara King and soprano Kathleen Morrison, played such well-known traditional favourites like Somewhere Over the Rainbow but wowed the audience of around 25 people with performances from Adriana Lecouvreur and a whimsical piece from The Merry Wives of Windsor — in which the Divas discover they have received identical love letters from the same admirer.

The Miller family was glad to be taking in some live music for the first time since things came to a stop due to COVID-19.

"It's wonderful," said mom Lisa Miller, who brought sons Konrad and Benjamin.

The Millers were having supper just before a presentation of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban along with a performance by the Calgary Philharmonic — but the show was cancelled due to COVID-19 that night.

The Divas were accompanied by Carlos Foggin, who is well-known in these parts as the founder and musical director of the Rocky Mountain Symphony Orchestra.

The Divas Opera's stunning performance was a dress-rehearsal for The Show Must Go On! Sept. 15 on the Calgary Marriott Hotel roof-top.
