Back in Bethlehem

The little town of Bethlehem comes alive in Okotoks.

Take a walk through the town of Bethlehem, brought to life in the field east of St. James Church on 32 Street. Shops are filled with merchants peddling their wares, Roman census-takers will greet guests, and the holy family will be found in the stable. A light meal is available.

When: Dec. 14, 4 p.m.-8 p.m.

Where: The field east of St. James Church on 32 Street

Cost: $25 per family, or $7 per adult and $5 per child over 12.

 

Tasty comedy

Oilfields High School presents the Million-Dollar Meatballs a comedy that deals with a failing restaurant, a diamond heist which provides plenty of giggles.

When: Dec. 13-14, 7-9 p.m.

Where: Oilfields High School

Cost: $10 for adults, $5 for children

 

A Good handle on Handel

The Foothills Philharmonic Society presents Handel’s Messiah Part 1: The Beauty of Christmas. There will also be a selection of music highlighting the birth of Jesus Christ. There will also be a small selection of other pieces, including Bizet's L'Arlesienne Suite No. 2.

Handel's Messiah is an English oratorio composed in 1741. Part 1 tells of the prophecy of the Messiah and of his virgin birth. Tickets are going quickly, there are just a few left.

When: Dec. 14, 7 p.m.

Where: Okotoks Alliance Church

Cost: Adults, $20, Children, $15

Eggs with St. Nick

Enjoy Breakfast With Santa in Turner Valley. Flapjacks are on the griddle and pictures are available with Santa.

When: Dec. 14, 10 a.m.- 1 p.m.

Elf is in the building

Bring out your inner elf at the Okotoks Public Library for an interactive showing of the holiday movie, Elf.

Everyone who registers will receive a prop bag complete with instructions, treats, and surprises to help act out the scenes of the becoming classic movie with Will Ferrell and Bob Newhart. For ages 13-17.

When: Dec. 15, 2 to 4 p.m.

Where: Okotoks Public Library

Cost: Free

 

The final coutdown

There's just one more weekend of Junior hockey in Okotoks before the holiday break.

The Okotoks Jr. A Oilers wrap-up their home slate for December with a divisional clash against the Olds Grizzlys on Dec. 14, 7 p.m. at Pason Centennial Arena.

The first-place Okotoks Jr. B Bisons also take to the ice, the herd playing twice at the Murray Arena this weekend. Okotoks takes on Coaldale on Dec. 13, an 8 p.m. start and battle the provincial host Medicine Hat Cubs on Dec. 15 at 1:15 p.m.
