LETTER: RCMP officers commended for their compassion

Dear Editor,

I would like to commend two members of the Turner Valley RCMP for their help and compassion following our accident on March 10 near Longview.

Joe Fennel responded quickly and checked to see that we were OK, and that we had called a tow truck.

Later in the day, concerned that our ditched vehicle would be hit once more in the whiteout, Tom Allonby drove us to a friend’s house in Longview.

Many thanks to the numerous drivers who stopped to offer assistance. I only wonder why so many people chose to risk accidents by driving in the horrible conditions. I have never seen so much traffic on that stretch of road.

(Comment: None of the people who stopped had any water available for us or for themselves. Always keep plenty of liquids in your vehicle in winter.)

Many thanks to the AAA tow truck driver who was understanding and helpful.

And hats off to our first responders.
