A few days ago, it came to my attention that 2023 is the 150th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and news media, be it newspapers, radio or TV, have said nothing.
Here we are sitting in what was, 150 years ago, the North West Territories. It was the lawlessness of this region of Canada that prompted the government to create the North West Mounted Police.
My hope is my letter will encourage the Town to pick up on the significance of this milestone, as perhaps will community groups who recognize the significant part the RCMP plays in our well being.
