Letter: Streets shouldn’t be used as raceways

Dear Editor,

I recently read a blog online that referred to Okotoks.

It read, “time to bring the motor bikes and high performance cars out and give them a once over before hitting the street. Looking to spin some tires, pop the brakes, and stomp on the gas for a quick ride?

Well, Okotoks is the place to go. Southridge Drive has three straight doubles lanes north and south to let er’ rip and pump your adrenaline.

At the south end you can choose to burn it east on the straight #2A Highway or west on #7 Highway, both have long straightaways.

The town offers many amenities and food/beverage outlets (hopefully opening soon after COVID-19). Go out and enjoy yourself on great roads with little traffic enforcement”.

I was not amused after I read it because 1) it doesn’t portray Okotoks as in the most positive light and 2) I live one street up from Southridge Drive and I have to (unfortunately) agree with their description of the raceway opportunity on Southridge Drive.

The speed and noise are unbelievable!

Jim Tabor,

Okotoks
