As a regular driver of Highway 7 for the past 10 years, the intersection does need some upgrades for safety.
Traffic, as it is routed now, comes hard and fast at you if you don’t allow proper time to merge your vehicle.
And with other drivers who take their sweet time to get up to speed, they don’t help either.
However, I can’t understand how anyone would want a set of traffic lights installed, on a highway, out in the middle of the countryside. This doesn’t solve any problems, it only aggravates it in a new way.
What solves it is a traffic circle. It allows traffic to continually flow, effectually safe and reduces speed as needed to make for a effective intersection.
The rate the town and county is growing, it will be at least 20-plus years from now before a set of lights could possibly be needed to accommodate future town growth.
Traffic lights will continually be problematic and still hinder the flow of traffic for years for no good reason, but rather cause frustration to drivers in a new way.
A traffic circle keeps the flow going and is what should be proposed, and ultimately done to solve this intersections issues.
With plenty of land available at this area, out in the country, it can be accommodated and made to happen as it is a quick, efficient, and permanent fix.
