An invite-only celebration for Ian Tyson was held at the Twin Cities Saloon in Longview on Jan. 9.

Friends of the late singer-songwriter gathered at the saloon to listen to songs, hear stories and connect after the passing of the iconic Canadian musician.

Musicians including Paul Brandt, Charlie Ewing and Ryan Fritz played a song or two during the event, some sharing personal stories or anecdotes about Tyson.

Inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame in 1989, Tyson played at the saloon over the years and had a ranch in the area.

He passed away on Dec. 29 at the age of 89.
