Changes are being proposed to Turner Valley’s animal control bylaw.
The draft bylaw being considered removes cat licensing and enforcement. Passing this bylaw would mean that licensing, trapping and impounding cats would cease.
A notice posted on the Town’s website on June 15 says that due to staffing changes and the upcoming amalgamation of Turner Valley and Black Diamond, Turner Valley council wants its bylaw more closely aligned with Black Diamond’s animal control bylaw.
The new animal control bylaw got first and second reading in May. A third and final reading will take place at a later date.
The notice says that questions, comments or concerns regarding the proposed bylaw can be directed to Turner Valley Legislative Services, and that this is one of many bylaws set to be amended and aligned as Turner Valley moves toward amalgamation.
