A popular Okotoks restaurant has landed on a first of its kind best in Canada list.
Heartland Cafe was named to online review platform OpenTable’s inaugural Top 100 Restaurants with Healthy Bites in Canada 2024, among six others in Alberta.
According to a press release, the list was compiled from over 1.1 million OpenTable reviews from Oct. 1, 2022 to Sept. 30, 2023 using an algorithm selecting diner ratings, five-star reviews and a percentage of reviews tagged healthy.
Six other restaurants in Alberta made the cut: Jasper’s Raven Bistro, Sky Bistro, Mountain Top Dining at Banff Gondola along with Calgary’s Ten Foot Henry, River Café, Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant and Broken Plate Greek Restaurant YYC.

OpenTable data reveals 74 per cent of Canadians are likely to consider eating more healthily in 2024 versus 2023 and that 55 per cent of Canadians prioritize eating healthier as the number-one New Year’s resolution.
Additionally, 30 per cent surveyed said they find it difficult to select healthier options at restaurants and 33 per cent think there are not many healthy dining restaurants in their area.
The recognition for Heartland, located at 46 McRae St. in a church built in 1906, comes on the heels of two years of being named to OpenTable’s 100 Most Romantic Restaurants in Canada in 2022 and 2023.
