The Town of Okotoks has two exciting opportunities to join the
Community Development & Engineering team.
Project Engineer
The Project Engineer is responsible for delivering a wide range of
projects from inception to completion, including:
• Managing the delivery of capital and operating projects including
scope development, scheduling, budgeting, cost tracking,
stakeholder and public engagement, procurement, contract
administration, project reporting and documentation, design and
specification development, and construction oversight;
• Supporting procurement processes including RFP development,
submission evaluation, vendor selection and contract negotiations;
• Coordinating and reviewing designs for underground utilities,
roads, landscaping, third-party utilities, and other infrastructure;
• Collaborating with project stakeholders for scope development,
design and specification reviews, inspections, infrastructure
commissioning and operationalization, and close-out processes;
• Participating in the development and implementation of public
and stakeholder engagement strategies;
• Overseeing construction and monitoring for potential project
risks including safety, environmental, legal, and financial;
• Supporting capital planning, business case development, and cost
estimation.
Development Engineer
The Development Engineer is primarily responsible for coordinating
the engineering elements of land development including master
planning, land use planning and servicing, and planning applications.
As workloads and priorities change, this position will also lead other
types of projects including design, construction, reports, and studies.
The duties of the Development Engineer include:
• Assessing and analyzing the engineering considerations for
planning applications including Area Structure Plans (ASPs),
Neighbourhood Area Structure Plans (NASPs), subdivisions, and
development permits;
• Interpreting and incorporating policy, technical analysis, and best
practices into planning applications, designs, and studies;
• Working with applicants to find engineering solutions to
development challenges;
• Coordinating growth-related infrastructure studies (e.g. master
plans, growth strategy);
• Managing the delivery of capital and operating projects including
scope development, scheduling, budgeting, cost tracking,
stakeholder and public engagement, procurement, contract
administration, project reporting and documentation, design and
specification development, and construction oversight.
Requirements - What You Bring:
• Degree in Engineering with 3 or more years related work
experience representing continuous learning;
• Licensure as a Professional Engineer in Canada would be
considered an asset;
• Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) with
the Project Management Institute would be considered an asset;
• Strong computer skills;
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; and
• Strong attention to detail and time management.
Compensation: Salary range: $93,331–$102,858 annually
