Black Diamond takes a stand against logging

Dear Editor, On behalf of Take a Stand for the Upper Highwood, I would like to thank the Black Diamond town council for their resolution, unanimously passed, regarding logging in the area of the Highwood Junction.

Dear Editor,

On behalf of Take a Stand for the Upper Highwood, I would like to thank the Black Diamond town council for their resolution, unanimously passed, regarding logging in the area of the Highwood Junction. It is a great feeling to have their support regarding our concerns about logging at the Highwood Junction. Black Diamond council is concerned about the logging activities and how that logging will impact tourism and economic development in our Cool Little Towns.

Black Diamond council is being very forward thinking in their resolution to look at future impacts of logging at the Highwood Junction. The logging at Highwood Junction only benefits the logging company and those benefits will be shipped to B.C. The logging is a one time harvest event that will have a very negative affect on the aesthetics and visual impact of a high value recreation area, tourism area, and a critical wildlife corridor.

We need to emphasize the value of long term tourism and economic development in this area versus a clear cut at the Highwood Junction. Thank you Black Diamond council.

Respectfully,

Neil Williams,

Black Diamond
