Blackie community does not want Calgary dump

Dear Editor,

For the past few months The Prairie Sky Resource Centre (BFI Canada) has been putting paid advertisement in the local newspapers. They have been telling everyone what a great opportunity it will be to have them locate in the MD of Foothills. What they have not been telling everyone is that they are planning to destroy six quarters of farmland and natural pasture and several businesses will be closed down, and still try to maintain a good image by sponsoring events in the MD.

What they also do not tell you is that they are planning on relocating Calgary’s Lake Chaparral dump to the edge of our MD — on the back door of the Hamlet of Blackie. This dump will not be for the use of the MD, but rather still for Calgary. This dump will affect all of us via our drinking water, an increase in (speeding) trucks and garbage on the roads from the trucks, and most of all, quality of life for all those people who will be adversely affected by this dump.

This dump needs to stopped from coming into our community.
