Dear Editor,

Re: letters in Feb. 9 edition.

ALSA (Alberta Land Stewardship Act) does not remove landowners’ property rights. Instead it is the first Canadian legislation (since Mr. Trudeau did not bring home property rights in the Canadian Constitution in 1982) to give credence to the perception that property rights exist.

The often quoted s.11, by others, has deliberately misinterpreted the term “statutory consent”. This is in the section, in reference only to the document called a regional plan. The term refers to “instruments” such as licenses and authorizations. This definition does not include title to the land. Title is separate.

ALSA is not “flawed legislation” it has had others, with their own agendas, give “flawed interpretations”. Please read the Act for yourself.
