An Okotoks mom is organizing a concert to support another family in a time of need.

After teen Kolton Byerley was thought to be in remission following a 2022 battle with brain cancer, his family received news it had spread and is likely terminal.

Since then, the Byerleys, who opened Yooneek Books in 2021, have prioritized enjoying each and every moment together, and to allow them to make the most of that time, Sandy Grunleitner has taken to organizing a benefit concert on Oct. 21 at the Elks Hall.

"This is important and so near and dear to our hearts," said Grunleitner in an email to the Western Wheel. "This event is to raise funds for him and his family to be able to live his bucket list and to help them have the best time together while they can."

Performers and other details are still being worked out, but Grunleitner promised awesome music and a silent auction.
