The Calgary Girls Choir will be coming to High River this weekend for an afternoon of choral excellence.
The Young Musicians Extraordinaire concert, a beloved annual presentation from High River Gift of Music, continues a tradition of showcasing emerging talent.
The concert will be held on Sunday, March 10 at 3 p.m. at High River United Church.
The concert will feature the Calgary Girls Choir’s Brava Ensemble, winners of the Vienna Music Festival, Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod and four-time first place winners at the ACCC National Choral Competition.
“I believe young artists achieve excellence that stands in its own and often surpasses the artistry and skill of adults,” said artistic director Elaine Quilichine. “That has been the greatest joy and focus of my work and a strong belief I’ve always tried to communicate through the choirs. Calgary Girls Choir is a beacon of excellence and accomplishment.”
The Brava Ensemble comprised of young women, Grade 7 and up, has earned a stellar reputation as a leader amongst the top youth choirs. The maturity, polish and excellence of this senior choir is the result of exceptional training in vocal technique, musicianship and artistic interpretation.
These young women have developed a passion for creating beautiful sound while pushing the boundaries of the choral experience by learning and creating within all styles and genres.
Tickets for adults/seniors are $35 in advance and $40 at door; youth are $10. Tickets are available at highrivergiftofmusic.com and the High River United Church.
High River Gift of Music is a non-profit society that has been bringing extraordinary classical music to High River and area since 2009.
