The Okotoks Film Festival, pictured in 2023, will be celebrating the creativity of Canadian filmmaking on April 17.

Canada's immense contributions to the film world will be celebrated worldwide, including in Okotoks, on Wednesday, April 17.

The 11th annual National Canadian Film Day will be commemorated by film buffs worldwide, including by the Okotoks Film Festival with a free film screening at Okotoks Cinemas.

The film being screened in Okotoks, BlackBerry, is a 2023 Canadian dramedy on the rise and fall of the titular cellphone company.

The national event, organized by REEL CANADA, will see over 1,000 screenings of different films across Canada and worldwide

37 screenings are happening in Alberta including two in High River, where Remember and A Bear Named Winnie will be played on April 18 at the High River Legion.

The films being screened are selected under National Canadian Film Day's 2024 criterion "Films That A.I. Could Never Make," which highlights Canadian movies with creativity, passion and vision only possible from human creators rather than machines and algorithms.

Get tickets for the Okotoks Film Festival's free screening, happening on April 17 at 7 p.m., here.
