The Okotoks Public Library has a new children's book display, just in time for its Kid's Summer Reading Challenge.

The Okotoks Public Library has a couple of ways to spice up your summer reading.

The Kid's Summer Reading Challenge launches on Wednesday, July 2, giving youngsters an opportunity to win prizes while they read.

The free program, which runs until Aug. 14, poses a series of challenges, everything from reading in your pajamas to reading a book that takes place in the summer.

For every five challenges completed, kids can claim a prize at the children's desk. Once they’ve completed all the challenges, they’re entered in a draw for the grand prize.

The Summer Genre Reading Race for adults returns for its second year on Tuesday, July 8.

The free program sees readers choose a book from one of the following categories: romance, mystery, thriller/horror, historical fiction, science fiction, true story/biography, fantasy and non-fiction.

Each book read boosts that genre in the race and gives readers entry in a prize draw. Race results are updated in the library every Tuesday.

The program runs until Aug. 13.

Details about both programs are available at okotokslibrary.ca
