A Monster mash
There will be chills and thrills at the Legion of Monsters’ Stone Hill Asylum in Turner Valley. The annual haunted house has a range of tours to provide scares for those at The Exorcist level to the more timid — the Scooby-Doo types. There is a Halloween costume dance for children from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 26
There is nothing scary about the proceeds. They go towards supporting veterans, and their families.

Edgy jazz

Living in the Past
The Okotoks Museum celebrates communities from the days of yesteryear, such as Frankburg, Lew and Norma in its exhibit Forgotten Foothills: Traces of the Past.
Pictures and stories from these unique towns are on display.
When: until Oct. 31, Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Thoroughly enchanting
The third annual Enchanting Okotoks celebrates all things mythical, historical and magical in Okotoks.
Festivities will include EpicQuest, a series of adventures in the downtown area, a scavenger hunt at four realms, Enchanted Elma, Mystical Northern Realm, Resplendent Riverside Realm and the Elizabethan Street Realm for a chance to win a gift basket provided by the art market vendors.
There will also be food trucks. A map of the various activities is provided on page 29 of the Oct. 23 issue of the Western Wheel.

The Time-warp again
It’s not all over for Frankenfurter as there will be a showing of the campy cult-classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show at the RPAC. The audience is invited to participate — and dress up as their favourite characters — at the showing. There will be a prize for best costume. Have fun, and don’t eat Meat Loaf before…

Falcons Classic
High school girls and boys volleyball takes centre stage at Foothills Composite for the annual Falcons Classic volleyball tournament featuring 30 teams from Oct. 25-26.
Local schools competing include Foothills Composite, Holy Trinity Academy and Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School.

Big Rock Battle
It’s an all-Okotoks final on the gridiron.
The Big Rock Football Conference championship is on line Friday night when the Foothills Falcons take on the top-seed Knights at Holy Trinity Academy.
Opening kick-off is 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 25.
Hometown Hockey
Junior hockey supporters have plenty of options this weekend.
The Okotoks Jr. A Oilers (12-2-2) are home for two straight in South Division clashes with the Olds Grizzlys and Camrose Kodiaks, on Oct. 25-26. Both games are 7 p.m. starts. Over at the Murray Arena, the Okotoks Jr. B Bisons (10-0-0) look to make it 11 straight wins to start the regular season when they clash with the Red Deer Vipers for an 8 p.m. start on Friday.
In the Midget AAA ranks, the Bow Mark Oilers host the Calgary Buffs on Oct. 26 at 3:30 p.m. at Pason Centennial Arena. The Rocky Mountain Raiders of the Alberta Female Hockey League welcome the St. Albert Slash on Oct. 27, a noon start at the Scott Seaman Sports Rink in Heritage Heights.
