Entertainment guide for second weekend of November in the Foothills

Christmas in the Country

Take a drive in the picturesque Foothills southeast of Millarville to view 2,500 original arts and crafts created at the hands of more than 100 local artists in Leighton Art Centre’s final weekend of its Christmas in the Country Art Sale.

Expect beautiful decorations and festive treats. Admission is free.

Where: Leighton Art Centre

When: Nov. 9-10 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

Evening of music

Sit back and enjoy an evening of song with Juno Award-winning singer/songwriter Bill Bourne in downtown Okotoks.

Bourne is a multiple Canadian Juno Award nominee and winner, recognized for his traditional music elements from around the world.

When: Nov. 9 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

 

Off to the market

If you’re looking for unique gifts for loved ones, look no further than Marketsquare.

You’ll find a variety of items on your shopping list at the three-day Okotoks Christmas Market, featuring 175 local artists, artisans and businesses. Youngsters can get their photographs taken with Santa Claus and participate in the gift making. There will also be Christmas caroling and food. Admission is $5.

When: Nov. 8 from 4-8 p.m. and Nov. 9-10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 

Knight time

The high school football provincial playoffs kick-off this weekend in Okotoks.

The No. 1 ranked Holy Trinity Academy Knights tackle the second-seed Cardston Cougars in the Tier II regional semifinal at 1 p.m. at HTA on Nov. 9.

In the Tier I playoffs, the Foothills Falcons are in Lethbridge to challenge the LCI Rams at 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 9.

 

Charge of the Bisons

How long can they keep the streak alive?

The Okotoks Jr. B Bisons put their 15-game winning streak to start the Heritage Junior Hockey League season on the line this weekend with a pair of home dates.

First, the Cochrane Generals are in town for a Nov. 8 battle at 8 p.m. followed by a Nov. 10 clash with the Airdrie Thunder at 1:15 p.m. For more go to okotoksbisons.com
