Environment Canada has issued another special weather statement for Okotoks and surrounding areas due to significant snowfall expected this week.

At 7:38 a.m. on April 30, Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for the second day in a row.

The statement says snow over southwestern Alberta will taper off later this morning, but heavy snow is expected to begin this evening along the foothills then spread to the east and continue through Wednesday. Total amounts of 10 to 25 cm are possible by Thursday morning.

The highest amounts will fall west of Highway 2.

The snow will be heavy and wet, and will be mixed with rain in some areas, so total snowfall accumulations will vary widely.

Snow or rain will continue through Thursday, but Friday brings a warm up with temperatures reaching a high of 18C by Sunday.
