Team Brave is offering a playgroup in Okotoks for children of high-conflict divorce as they deal with the particularly challenging summer months.
According to parenting and trauma consultant AJ Gajjar, co-founder of Team Brave, the dynamics of high-conflict divorce are extra tough on children.
Gajjar said often in these situations, one parent becomes less involved in a child’s life, so when school gets out for the summer, children of these parents can feel increasingly isolated.
Gajjar said that's the reason she co-founded Team Brave with her daughter.
“So if they're (the kids) experiencing not so great stuff at home, at least they kind of have a place to get away,” she said.
Team Brave will be hosting playgroups on July 11, 16 and 25.
“The focus of it really is just to create awareness so that these kids have somewhere to go,” said Gajjar.
She said it’s important for those who are struggling to feel as though they can reach out and be heard.
