The Town of Okotoks hosts Nature Friday every week from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Environmental Education Centre. Games, activities, experiments, videos and more. Camping Stewardship will be the theme on June 30. okotoks.ca   

   

The Town of Okotoks will host a Canada Day Celebration on Saturday, July 1 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Wylie Athletic Park. There will be entertainment as well as a Fit Set Ninja mobile obstacle course. Fireworks will be held after the Dawgs game at approximately 10:45 p.m. at Bill Robertson Park. okotoks.ca  

  
Adult Summer Reading Bingo returns to the Okotoks Public Library on Monday, July 3. Pick up a free card, read books to complete a line and then fill out a ballot for a chance to win a Kobo Nia eReader along with some other neat prizes. Program runs until Sept. 5. okotokslibrary.ca 

 

The Okotoks Museum and Archives will launch Wednesday Walkabouts on Wednesday, July 5 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Join Kathy Coutts and other guests for guided tours of Okotoks every Wednesday during July and August. Themes will change weekly. The free tours will be approximately 90 minutes. Meet at the museum. okotoks.ca  

  
A Memory Cafe will be held on the first Wednesday of the month from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Okotoks Seniors Club. It’s an opportunity for people with memory loss and their caregivers to meet for mutual support. Call 403-969-6040 for details.   

   
Thursday Nights @ the Plaza kicks off with Country Night on Thursday, July 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Old Towne Plaza (50 McRae St.). Tacoma will perform a free, family-friendly concert. okotoks.ca  

  

Scavenger Hunt at the Museum will be held on Saturday, July 8 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Stop by the Okotoks Museum and Archives to explore current exhibitions in an engaging and accessible way. The free drop-in event is suitable for the whole family. okotoks.ca  

  
Join Karen Peters of the Okotoks and District Historical Society for a free walking tour of downtown Okotoks on Saturday, July 8 from 2 to 4 p.m. Peters will share stories of some of the oldest buildings in the community and the people who lived and worked there. Foothills MP John Barlow will be the featured speaker at the Okotoks & District Chamber of Commerce’s monthly luncheon on Tuesday, July 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Crystal Ridge Golf Club. Cost is $30 for members, $37 for non-members. okotokschamber.ca 

 

There will be a free Stampede Pancake Breakfast for the community provided by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (384 Bannister Dr.) in Okotoks on Saturday, July 15 from 9 a.m. to noon. There will be bouncy castles, face painting and a visit by the Okotoks Fire Department along with breakfast.  

 

Country-pop artist Brettyn Rose will perform during Picnic at the Piano on Wednesday, July 19 from noon to 1 p.m. Bring a picnic lunch and a blanket and enjoy a free, outdoor, family-friendly concert at the Okotoks Art Gallery. okotoks.ca  

    

The opening ceremonies of the 2023 Alberta Summer Games will be held on Thursday, July 20 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Seaman Stadium. Welcome athletes and coaches from throughout the province at the interactive event, complete with Indigenous and acrobatic performances and a DJ. Tickets are available at 2023asg.com. 

 

Thursday Nights @ the Plaza will feature a tribute to Elton John on Thursday, July 20. Rob Skeet and the Husky Tower band will perform a free, family-friendly concert at the Old Towne Plaza (50 McRae St.) from 7 to 9 p.m. okotoks.ca 

 

The Taste of Okotoks is back for its 11th year on Saturday, July 22 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Creations from local restaurants will be available for purchase in this annual culinary celebration along North Railway and McRae streets. okotoks.ca 
 

Pollinator River Walk — A Green Living workshop will be held on Wednesday, July 26 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Meet at the Environmental Education Centre for an interactive walk along the Sheep River to learn more about pollinators and their local habitat from a pollinator professor from Mount Royal University. okotoks.ca

The Okotoks Museum and Archives has an exhibit commemorating the 150th anniversary of the NWMP/RCMP on display until Sept. 2. The exhibit not only marks a major milestone in Canadian history, but also explores the community’s policing history. okotoks.ca   

   

Foothills Writers Group (formerly the Indie Author Group Okotoks) meets every third Thursday at the Okotoks Public Library from 6 to 8 p.m. The group is a community of local authors whose goal is to encourage and support writers during their creative journey. The group includes members new to the writing world and published authors. [email protected]   

   

The LEGO Club meets every Wednesday from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. at the Okotoks Public Library. Kids aged six to 12 can enjoy playing with LEGO and meeting new friends in the free, drop-in activity. okotokslibrary.ca   

   

The Rotary Club of Okotoks meets on the first and third Wednesdays of every month at 6 p.m. at the Crystal Ridge Golf Club. okotoksrotary.ca   

   

An ELL (English Language Learning) class is held every Thursday from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. at the Okotoks Public Library. Learn vocabulary that will help you in everyday situations in classes facilitated by YMCA LINC instructor Deb Payne. Classes are free and drop-in. okotokslibrary.ca   

   

The Okotoks Chess Club meets every Wednesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Okotoks Public Library. The free club aims to improve chess play and maintains a friendly environment where learning takes priority over winning. Chess sets and clocks are available. All ages welcome, drop in.
