The Town of Okotoks hosts Nature Friday every week from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Environmental Education Centre. Games, activities, experiments, videos and more. Upcoming themes include: Environment Week (June 9), Bugs and Insects (June 16), Trees and Plants (June 23) and Camping Stewardship (June 30). okotoks.ca 

 

Astronomy in Action: A Planetarium Comes to the OPL! will be held at the Okotoks Public Library on Saturday, June 10 from 1 to 3 p.m. Hosted by the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, there will be four identical 30-minute presentations about constellations, the moon and more. A Repair Café will be held on Saturday, June 10 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Okotoks Recreation Centre. Get electronics, small appliances, toys, clothing and more repaired. Food bank donations will be accepted. okotoks.ca 
 

Motivational speaker Leonard Quilty will present Forget Webster: Define Yourself! at the Okotoks Public Library on Saturday, June 10 from 11 a.m. to noon. Free event will include a speech on personal empowerment followed by a question-and-answer session. okotokslibrary.ca 
 

Picnic at the Piano with Tricia Edwards will be held on Wednesday, June 14 from noon to 1 p.m. on the grounds of the Okotoks Art Gallery. Bring a picnic lunch and a blanket and enjoy a free, family-friendly concert. okotoks.ca  

 

Okotoks & District Chamber of Commerce’s Wild West Golf Tournament will be held on Thursday, June 15 at the Highwood Golf Course. The tournament is being held in partnership with the High River Chamber and Diamond Valley Chamber. okotokschamber.ca

The Okotoks Parade and Children's Festival will be held on Saturday, June 17 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The parade will wind throughout downtown, while the Children's Festival will take place at Ethel Tucker Park at the Arts & Learning Plaza. okotoks.ca 

 
Children aged six and under and their parent(s) or caregiver(s) are invited to play, explore, sing and connect outdoors in Diamond Valley on Saturday, June 17 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. A variety of play-based activities will be on offer. A Memory Cafe will be held on the fourth Friday of the month starting June 23 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Griffiths Centre in Diamond Valley. It’s an opportunity for people with memory loss and their caregivers to meet for mutual support. Call 403-960-6040 for details. 

 
Performers of all varieties will take part in BuskersFest on Saturday, June 24 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Musicians, magicians, jugglers, singers and more will spread out on McRae and North Railway streets in this fun street festival.  

 

The Okotoks Museum and Archives has an exhibit commemorating the 150th anniversary of the NWMP/RCMP on display until Sept. 2. The exhibit not only marks a major milestone in Canadian history, but also explores the community’s policing history. okotoks.ca 

 

OM Chanting is held every Saturday at the Okotoks Public Library from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. It is an ancient, dynamic meditation technique which helps us realign with nature and existence. The Okotoks Art Gallery has a pair of exhibits on view until June 23. Stephen Strand’s Western Canada Landscapes is a collection of everyday scenes of Western Canada, while Patricia Lortie’s The Keepers uses the forest as a visual metaphor to explore concepts of self and community. okotoks.ca 

 

Teachers Rule! exhibit is on view at the Okotoks Museum and Archives until June 30. The exhibit shares the trials and triumphs of some of the early teachers who taught in the Okotoks area as well as some fond and not-so-fond memories from their former students. okotoks.ca 

 

The LEGO Club meets every Wednesday from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. at the Okotoks Public Library. Kids aged six to 12 can enjoy playing with LEGO and meeting new friends in the free, drop-in activity. okotokslibrary.ca 

 

The Rotary Club of Okotoks meets on the first and third Wednesdays of every month at 6 p.m. at the Crystal Ridge Golf Club. okotoksrotary.ca 

 

Foothills Writers Group (formerly the Indie Author Group Okotoks) meets every third Thursday at the Okotoks Public Library from 6 to 8 p.m. The group is a community of local authors whose goal is to encourage and support writers during their creative journey. An ELL (English Language Learning) class is held every Thursday from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. at the Okotoks Public Library. Learn vocabulary that will help you in everyday situations in classes facilitated by YMCA LINC instructor Deb Payne. Classes are free and drop-in. okotokslibrary.ca 

 

The Okotoks Chess Club meets every Wednesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Okotoks Public Library. The free club aims to improve chess play and maintains a friendly environment where learning takes priority over winning. Chess sets and clocks are available. All ages welcome, drop in.
