Welcome those trick-or-treaters while sitting by the fire.
Okotoks Fire & Rescue has waived permit requirements to allow fire pits to be located in the front of a home, in either the yard or driveway, on Halloween (Oct. 31).
The fire department reminds anyone planning to have a fire on Halloween to closely supervise children and to fully extinguish it before leaving. When burning, have a hose, bucket of water or shovel and dirt/sand nearby to extinguish the fire.
The Town of Okotoks is also encouraging people to take precautions to ensure Halloween goes off without a hitch.
For trick-or-treaters, it’s important to pick a costume that fits properly and doesn't limit vision. Youngsters are encouraged to attach reflective tape or glow sticks to costumes and travel in groups.
Residents are reminded to ensure front entrances are well-lit and clear of obstacles to welcome trick-or-treaters.
