Members of the national champion Mount Royal Cougars hockey team brought their gold medals to cheering fans at Tudor Manor in Okotoks on March 24.

Three members of the Cougars — Okotoks' Breanne Trotter along with Lyndsey James and Tianna Yaremko — paid a visit to local care home residents who had cheered them on during the playoffs.

One of the team members volunteers at Tudor Manor and brought teammates with her to meet the residents following the school's first-ever women's hockey national championship.

The Cougars beat the Concordia Stingers 4-3 in overtime to win gold at the 2023 U Sports Women's Hockey Championship in Montreal on March 19.

Trotter was the player of the game for the Cougars in the gold medal game, scoring twice including the equalizing goal with 1.8 seconds left in regulation, and was named to the tournament all-star team.
