Grass fire closes Highway 22 in Diamond Valley

A call came in at around 3 p.m. for reports of a fire in Diamond Valley on a hill near Highway 22 in between the communities of Black Diamond and Turner Valley.

Crews are on scene of a grass fire between Turner Valley and Black Diamond near Highway 22 and the Friendship Trail.

At around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25, crews were called for reports of a fire in Diamond Valley on a hill near Highway 22 in between the communities of Black Diamond and Turner Valley.

The fire is contained, but Highway 22 between Black Diamond and Turner Valley is closed. The closure is expected to be in place until the fire is fully out.

The first call reported an approximately five-acre fire with flames four to five feet high with power lines in the area threatened.

Crews from the Black Diamond, Turner Valley and Okotoks fire departments were dispatched to the call.
