High River’s emergency sirens will sound on Wednesday.
The Town said it is testing the sirens as part of part of Emergency Preparedness Week. The test will begin at 11:55 a.m. on May 8 and will last a few minutes.
There are two sirens in High River, one at the fire hall and one on Riverside Drive NW.
The Town said the testing is part of emergency planning and offered steps to take during a real emergency:
- Tune in to local television and radio stations
- Look for notifications from Alberta Emergency Alerts
- Check the Town’s Facebook page
- Be safe and follow directions from emergency officials
- If it’s safe to do so, notify neighbours, friends and family who may not have received a warning
Residents can join Alberta Emergency Alerts to get notifications by phone, text, or email in the event of real emergencies, instructions and up-to-date information, the Town said.
