Police road blocks that remained into night Thursday are now clear while RCMP continue an investigation between Davisburg and Gladys Ridge near the Highwood crossing.

A March 30 press release from the RCMP stated the stretch of Highway 552 would remain closed for several hours in the area between the Highwood River and 128 Street East, as well as down to the intersection of 338 Avenue and 128 Street East.

Emergency services were rushed to the area around 5 p.m., although details surrounding the incident have not been disclosed by police.

It was later confirmed by RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Troy Savinkoff the investigation is a criminal matter.

As of 3:30 p.m. March 31, reports indicated the road was reopened to traffic. No further details have been made public by the RCMP, with Savinkoff indicating Friday morning the investigation was still underway.

The situation is still developing and more information will be added as it becomes available.
