The Okotoks Public Library has announced the return of its Reading to Dogs program.

Open to children seven to 12, Reading to Dogs helps struggling young readers gain confidence by reading to a furry friend.

The professionally screened dogs are gentle and willing to listen.

The free, six-week program runs Tuesday evenings beginning Jan. 23. Sessions run from 6 to 6:30 p.m. and 6:30 to 7 p.m.

Parents/caregivers of children under the age of nine must remain in the library for the duration of the program.

The program is sponsored in part by the Friends of the Okotoks Public Library.

Space is limited and registration is required at okotokslibrary.ca.
