Okotoks Hot Chocolate Festival Day 6 spotlight: French 50

It's twice the chocolate and double the deliciousness with French 50's first-ever entry into the Okotoks Hot Chocolate Festival.

Day six of the Okotoks Hot Chocolate Festival is underway.

French 50 is taking part in the beloved festival, which has local businesses create their own unique hot chocolate drinks in a competition where people can vote to see who makes the best and most original drink.

Their entry into the contest is the "Double Chocolate" hot chocolate, which marks their first time participating in the festival.

The drink features chocolate ganache and French 50's own hot chocolate mix, along with house-made toasted marshmallows.

Owner Brad Labrenz prides himself and his team on making most of the ingredients in their own kitchen.

French 50, formerly a small location with three employees only open on Saturday mornings, moved into a 110-year-old historic house on Elma Street in June of 2022. It has since become an iconic Okotoks destination with over 30 employees.

The Okotoks Hot Chocolate Festival, which is celebrating its fifth anniversary, runs until Feb. 17.

More information on the event, including a list of participating businesses and an interactive map, is available here.
