A rolling protest may lock up Okotoks’ main traffic corridor Sunday.
As part of a demonstration aimed at protesting COVID-19 vaccination mandates for truck drivers, a procession of trucks is set to start off up Highway 2 from Nanton at 12 p.m. Sunday.
The route will take the ‘Slow Roll to Freedom’ convoy through High River and then Okotoks.
Social media posts indicate it will follow the Highway 2A corridor through Okotoks up to the overpass junction at Highway 2.
In a statement, Okotoks RCMP Staff Sgt. Zane Semaniuk said mounties will be on hand to ensure safety as the demonstration rolls through town.
“Locally we have been made aware of planned slow moving vehicles from Nanton through to north of Okotoks on Sunday afternoon through our partners at the RCMP integrated traffic services from High River,” Semaniuk said.
“The local area RCMP detachments, High River RCMP integrated traffic and Okotoks municipal enforcement have collaborated for the planned event on Sunday.”
