Sasquatch has been found in the Foothills.
All the attention is the last thing he was looking for when he moved to a small house outside Kananaskis West of Turner Valley
“I came out here to get away from the Sasquatch hunting reality TV hype,” he said.
He said he’s looking for a normal quiet life in the Foothills. He admitted this can be difficult thing for him, so he chose to share his story last week.
“I get people are always going to be curious about me,” he said. “That’s to be expected when someone sees big foot taking his dog for a walk playing fetch with his dog.”
His real name is Fred Grande Pied.
After decades as the subject of myth and legend, he revealed he lives a normal life.
“I like to cook, I like to read. I love nature and going for hikes,” he said. “That’s actually how most ‘sightings’ came about.”
He said he picked the Foothills area because he loves the area’s natural beauty and he loves being near the mountains.
“I fell in love with this area the first time I came out here on my travels,” he said.
So far the people he has met have been welcoming.
“My neighbours are really friendly, generous people,” he said. “I’ve started helping them around their ranch.”
Now that he’s publicly revealed his new life in the Foothills, is he worried it will attract unwanted attention.
“Maybe, I’m pretty good at keeping a low profile,” he said. “Besides some people will never believe I exist, even if they see a picture. They’ll probably think it’s just some sort of April Fool’s joke.”
