Foothills County warning residents of scam asking for taxes to be paid by e-transfer.

Foothills County residents should be on the alert for a scam asking them to pay their taxes via e-transfer.

County CAO Harry Riva Cambrin informed councillors at the Sept. 11 meeting that a resident had received an e-mail from someone impersonating the County and demanding tax payment via e-transfer.

Foothills County does not request or accept e-transfers as a form of payment for taxes.

Anyone who believes they are a victim of a fraud or scam are asked to contact the RCMP.
