The Dawgs bats have taken a bite out of the Bombers' playoff run.

The Okotoks Dawgs eclipsed the Brooks Bombers 14-2 Tuesday night at Elks Field to complete the two-game sweep of the best-of-three Western Canadian Baseball League West Division Semifinal.

Okotoks got on the sticks early and often with a four-run first inning setting the tone as McCoy Pearce, Tucker Zdunich and Jacob Morrow combined for RBI knocks.

The visitors added three in the second with Pearce going deep for a two-run home run and would hit the four-run inning mark again in the sixth as a pair of walks with the bases loaded where then punctuated by a two RBI double from Ricardo Sanchez, one night after the infielder hit for the cycle in a sterling Game 1 performance.

On the mound, Bobby Vath kept the Bombers' potent bats at bay. The LSU Shreveport hurler tossed 6.2 innings, striking out eight and allowing just two runs on four hits. Cade Hermann and Ryan Penner came out of the pen to close the door on Brooks.

Okotoks took Game 1 of the series 14-6 on Monday night at home.

The Dawgs will open the West Division Final, also a best-of-three set, on Friday, Aug. 12 at Seaman Stadium against the second-seed Sylvan Lake Gulls. Game 2 is in Sylvan Lake. If necessary, Game 3 is back in Okotoks on Aug. 14. All three games are 7:05 p.m. starts.

Sylvan Lake swept Fort McMurray in the other West Semifinal.

The East Division saw a similar script with a pair of first-round sweeps completed Tuesday night with the Medicine Hat Mavericks eliminating the top-seed Regina Red Sox and the Moose Jaw Miller Express bouncing the Swift Current 57's.
