Fifteen Eagles are flying to a familiar destination.
The Edison School Eagles senior badminton squad sent 18 athletes to the South Central zone championships in Olds on April 16 with each one bringing home a medal and 15 of whom qualified for the provincial championships next month.
Edison's team featured Lente Zwanepoel, Mia Obada, Lauren Maheux, Jasmine Toukabri, Saffi Malmqvist-Lund, Sophia Bychkova, Matias Santos, Jannat Kaler, Kosi Onyebukwa, Elizah Hernandez, Kamsi Onyebukwa, Ata Koksal, Efe Koksal, Ben Zwanepoel and Aleina Mally.
The Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association Badminton Provincial Championships run May 2-3 at Red Deer’s St. Joseph and Lindsay Thurber schools.
The Eagles are a powerhouse on the provincial stage among 1A schools, with this year’s championships an opportunity to win a 13th consecutive team banner.
