Kira Barham and the Foothills Storm have their Alberta Junior Female Hockey League regular season home opener on Oct. 5 versus the rival Calgary Titans.

Year two is off to a winning start for the Foothills Storm.

The Alberta Junior Female Hockey League squad opened the 2024-25 campaign with a 4-2 road triumph over the Lethbridge Eagles in the icebreaker on Sept. 28.

Paige Forrest and Abby MacNeil scored in the first period with Liv Kaun and Keira Gallacher adding second period tallies in the contest, a rematch of last year’s opening round playoff series.

Keita Niemi, part of a veteran goaltending tandem with Paige Williams, stopped 16 of 18 shots to secure the victory.

This weekend, Foothills’ home opener, Oct. 5 at 6:45 p.m. at Viking Rentals Centre Gold, sees them take on the rival Calgary Titans.

The Storm will play most of its home games out of Okotoks with Heritage Heights, Diamond Valley and Stavely also hosting select games.

Foothills, second place South Division finishers during its inaugural season, features a blend of youth and experience with seven rookie skaters on the roster.
