Knight time has arrived at the Football Canada Cup.

Five members of the Holy Trinity Academy Knights helped Team Alberta to a 22-0 debut victory over New Brunswick at the U18 Football Canada Cup on July 7 at Regina’s Mosaic Stadium.

Okotoks runningback Seth Poelzer, joined on Team Alberta with Knights teammates Matt Callahan, Ben Haden, Jack Bjorge and Thomas Rowan, was named Alberta’s Offensive Player of the Game with 121 yards rushing.

Haden, a defensive lineman, had two tackles and a fumble recovery.

Team Alberta is back on the gridiron on July 10 at 4 p.m. The tournament concludes with the placement games on July 13.

The games are available to watch via livestream on the Football Canada website.

Earlier in the month, Team Alberta earned silver at the U16 Western Regional Challenge also held in Regina. Nash Marzoff, set to join HTA as a Grade 10 student in the fall, played quarterback for Team Alberta.

Following the Canada Cup, the U17 Western Canada Showcase takes place from July 20-27 in Calgary. The team, coached by HTA bench boss Matt Hassett, features Knights runningback Lincoln Stewart and linebacker Wyatt Koopman.

To close the national events, the two-time defending champion Team Alberta U18 returns to the National Women’s U18 Championship July 22-28 in Fredericton, N.B.

Okotokian Sidanee Bowers, a recent HTA graduate and Foothills Eagles star, is on the roster for a third straight season. The team also features Eagles linebacker Kylee Emms.
