The lightning fast time catapulted him from fifth place in the aggregate on Day 1, to first at 2:29.54 after Saturday's second night or racing.
His uncle "Captain" Kirk Sutherland is second at 2:30.14.
Jordie Fike of Blackie was 19th overall on Saturday and is currently in 14th in the aggregate.
High River's Jason Glass is 11th in the aggregate after finishing 14th on Saturday night.
Day 3 of races go tonight in Strathmore at 7 p.m.
Monday's final day of races is at 1 p.m.
The title goes to the aggregate leader after four days. There is no dash for cash final.
