Okotoks Ladies Raiders enjoy winning start to season

Brooklynn Carson scored five goals in two games for the Okotoks Ladies Raiders as part of their split road trip to start the 2025 RMLL Alberta Major Female division campaign over the first weekend of May.

The Okotoks Junior Ladies Raiders are rolling into their home opener with momentum.

Okotoks opened its Alberta Major Female account with a 6-3 triumph over the St. Albert Drillers on May 2 as part of a weekend road trip split to kick off the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League regular season.

Rookies Shaylyn Smith and Riley Zinn both scored two goals in the season opener with Brooklynn Carson and Evyn Landymore adding the other tallies.

On Sunday, the Capital Region Saints powered to a 17-6 win over Okotoks. Carson, the team’s leading scorer as a rookie in 2024, had four goals to pace the offence with rookies Smith and Sadie Halpen finding the back of the net.

Okotoks boasts a strong freshman class with 11 first-year players on the team.

The Ladies Raiders hold their home opener on Wednesday, May 7 at 8 p.m. at the Murray Arena against the Calgary Cardinals. Their back in action one week later for a May 14 clash with the Rockyview Silvertips.

The seven-team Alberta Major Female division of the RMLL features squads from Okotoks, Rockyview, Calgary, St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Edmonton and Red Deer.
