I thought She decided to stay in town
But the policeman said I better sit down
The coroner said no suffering; she passed before
And there is no pain behind heavens door

I placed Her ashes at the edge of town
On the hill side with our friends around
Mother and daughter together once more
Having tea with angels behind heaven's door

Wish I could just knock on heaven's door
And ask please may I see her just once more
I know that you know how much I miss
And I guess I’m selfish wanting her to give up this
So please try and explain it to me just once more
Cause Heaven has been Hell on this side of the door

She was my best friend for forty five years
Thru the joy and laughter the sorrow and tears
I try and stay numb from the pain in my core
And question the wisdom behind heavens door

Did you give me reason and not expect me to say
She earned her reward why do it this way
“Oh God am I forsaken” you cried in pain before
And questioned the wisdom behind heavens door

Cause on this side of the door
Life is never the same as it was before
No one to walk and hold your hand
Hearts entwined life’s journey planned
Sacrificing today for a brighter tomorrow
Mortgaging the time we hope to borrow
The kids are gone the house is neat
The table is set but there’s an empty seat

We will always love and miss you
