It is with profound sadness that we announce
the passing of Ellen Maureen Schmidt at
68 years old. Ellen passed peacefully at the
Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge on
November 6th, 2023.

Ellen believed in family first. Her family circle
was large and not always blood related. She
always said it’s the people that want you, the
ones that accept you for who you are, the ones
who make you laugh that are important in life.

She loved hard and made sure her home was
always full of love, laughter and chaos.

Ellen was the loudest mom and grandma at
every game. She cheered her kids on fiercely
in their lives, on and off the stands. If she was
in a room you knew it, not necessarily because
you saw her but because you would absolutely
hear her coming. Ellen was a larger-than-life
personality. She loved cooking and baking, and
she loved her garden. She loved every dog that
ever crossed her path. She was always excited
to share her latest recipes and creations she
made with her husband, Brian. Her sense of
humor and quick wit will be missed forever.

Within the community she helped organize
and host events, and always helped various
organizations with fundraising. She always
told her daughters how proud she was of
them, and never missed a chance to talk
about them or her grandkids to various people
she met. Her smile, sense of caring, and heart
healing hugs will be missed forever.

Later in life Ellen developed a love for Quilting,
a labour of love. Everyone in her life were
benefactors of her amazing display of colours
and design.

Ellen was survived by her loving husband
Brian, her children Brandy (Bryan),
Kristen (Chad), Nicole (Benjamin), and
Mallorey. Also, her brother Richard (Kim),
Ian (Denise), and Dean (Charlyn). Ellen also left
her treasured grandchildren Kerigan, Zackary,
Brooklyn, Aiden, and Zoey.

Ellen is predeceased by her Mother Eileen,
Father Cal, Sisters Georgina and Patricia
(Keith), Sister-in-law Gail (Dan) and her
grandson Nicolas.

Celebration of life to be held in the
summer of 2024.
