August 4, 1934-January 11, 2020 Loving aunt, cherished sister and faithful friend was raised on the farm in Black Diamond. Ida taught in Alberta, Northwest Territories and Germany and lived the remainder of her life in Black Diamond, Alberta. In her time as a grade-school teacher, Ida inspired young minds wherever she taught. When she retired in 1994, she devoted her time to her community. Ida volunteered with many organizations, including the food bank, the Royal Canadian legion #78, the united church of the valley in Turner Valley, the Millerville horticultural Club, and girl guides. An avid stamp and coin collector, Ida also enjoyed travelling, gardening playing golf and curling. Forever in our hearts, Ida is survived by her brothers David (Carolyn) and Gaspard (Marie), nieces Allison (Shawn). Gail (Mike), Susan (Steve), Danielle (Troy) and nephews Steven (Stephanie) and Austin (Traci) along with many great-nieces and nephews. Ida was predeceased by her niece, Adrianne, as well as her brother, Etienne and his wife, Geri. A service to celebrate Ida’s wonderful life will be held at the United Church of the Valley in Turner Valley on March 14, 2020, at 1 pm with a reception to follow at 2 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion in Turner Valley.
