On Wednesday, January 10th, 2024, Jackie
Holmes passed away from a year long
fight with Esophageal Cancer at the age of
85 years young.

Jackie, Mom, Grandma, GG has made so
many cherished memories and left us all
with love and laughter in our hearts. She
leaves behind her son Brian and his daughter
Lyndsey (Roger) and GGD Ava, son Sheldon
(Kate) and GG’s Jesse and Brienne, Her
Daughter Linda and her girls Jessie (Rick) GGS
Freddy, Morgan and GGD’s Ally and Anni, her
youngest daughter Lisa (Tim) and their kids
Brandon (Hannah) GGD Rory and last but not
least Brittany, She is greatly missed by her
sister’s Margaret O’Leary and Jean Tufts and
many nieces and nephews.

Jackie was born in Toronto, Ontario on
July 3rd, 1938. Her parents Juliann and James
were born in Scotland and Jackie was very
proud of her Scottish heritage. They moved to
Calgary in 1974. Jackie made friends easily
and they found their place in their community,
Lake Bonavista, through volunteering. Jackie
worked for many years in the food industry,
having gone to college to be a dietitian. When
Archie and Jackie moved to Turner Valley
in 1998, they fell in love with their street,
because of their neighbors and friends and
all the wildlife, especially the birds. While
Archie was the jokester, out front and obvious.
Jackie was the one to watch out for, truly very
mischievous, those that knew her well were
blessed to see this side of her.

Jackie was married to Archie for 63 years and
they were known for their constant banter but
the love was deep. When Archie passed in
August 2022, things were never the same for
Jackie. You would always see Jackie walking
around the Golf Course meeting up with
many of her friends. She loved to be outside,
moving, always.

She was also very involved in the community
in the town of Turner Valley, volunteering at
the library, at the seniors center, always giving
back! She also loved Yoga and just visiting
with her friends, always welcoming new ones.

Her family was her life, pride and joy. We will
cherish those moments, those memories
to help fill in the void of such a HUGE loss.
Jackie, you were loved beyond measure and
will be missed so dearly. This is not goodbye,
we will see you later.

If you want to make a donation, Jackie had
requested that donations go to Esophageal
Cancer Research through Alberta Cancer
Foundation with donor direction towards
TBCC clinical trials.
