It’s with saddened hearts we say our final good-bye to our dear mother of 85 years.

She is survived by her daughters Sherri-Ann Shura, (Mike) grandson Adam, Lynette Curr (Dave), great-grand daughter Tenika Johnson and son Jeffrey Curr (Donna). Her husband, James George Curr predeceased her in January 1999 and her grand-son Jesse Daniel James Curr in December 2010.

Marjorie was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. From an early age she was trained in voice and piano and sang in various church choirs that carried her into her adult years. She met and married her husband, James Curr in June 29, 1957. After their children were born and in school, Marjorie went to work for the Edmonton School Board working in the Educational Development department at North Edmonton School. They continued to live in Edmonton until 1974, when they bought an acreage near Millet, Alberta and moved there with their three children.

Gardening and canning took up much of her time in the summer as well as crocheting and doing pottery throughout the year. She also worked at the Millet library and was an avid reader. She loved to cook and cake decorate and was very good at both. Welcoming friends and family to her table, there was always plenty to go around and no one left her table hungry.

In later years, after the kids left home, Marjorie and James sold the acreage and moved into MIllet. Although they did some traveling in their motor home, after James retired while still living on the acreage, they decided to do a lot more seeing much of Alberta, B.C. and the U.S. When her husband passed in 1999, she continued to reside in Millet until 2016, when she moved to Okotoks, Alberta, to be closer to her eldest daughter Sherri and her family.

Her greatest enjoyments in life where singing; painting; playing the piano, reading, playing with her cat(s) and spending time with her family, especially her 2 grand sons and great-grand daughter. We’ll miss you mom! Only later in life and when we have families of ou own we realize the enormous wealth of knowledge you passed onto us. Thank you mom for being our mom.

The family is planning a Celebration of Life on June 1, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Bakers Funeral Chapel in Wetaskiwin, 5302 - 50 Ave,Wetaskiwin, Alberta with coffee and tea to follow. Consider wearing your favorite spring color. Interment will be at a later date.
