With deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of Maynard Hartley Cornelson at 94 years young on Monday, January 14, 2020. Maynard passed peacefully surrounded by his devoted caregivers at AgeCare Glenmore where he had resided since October 2019. Maynard leaves to mourn his wife Emily Cornelson (deceased), his children Brian Cornelson, Debra Cornelson-Buddo (Jim), Rebecca Heon (Dan); his brothers Lorne (Joyce), Herb (Muriel), and sister Ileanna Dirks. Maynard also leaves many nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as his grandchildren Patrick (Melanie), Krystin (Rob), Amanda (Steve) and Adam (Chelsea), and four great-grandchildren Kaiya, Payton, Lilah, and Easton. Maynard was predeceased by his parents Frank and Anna Cornelson, his brothers Edwin, Melbert, Ted, and Les, and his sister Viola. He is also predeceased by his first wife, Jean, and second wife, Amy.

Maynard expressly wished not to have any service when he passed; he wanted to be remembered for living, not dying. Nonetheless, Maynard’s children will hold a celebration of his life later in the spring. He will be greatly missed but we are comforted knowing he is resting in Heaven. If you wish, a donation can be made to a charity of your choice on Maynard’s behalf, or to The Last Post Fund (www.lastpostfund.ca), an organization that ensures no veteran is denied a dignified funeral.
