May 19, 1940 – September 21, 2023
Mrs. Sheila Fleury of Okotoks, Alberta passed
away at the Foothills Country Hospice on
September 21, 2023 at the age of 83 years.
Sheila was the first to be born in the
Turner Valley Hospital in 1940. Due to her
father’s endeavors, she moved throughout her
school years. Sheila worked all over Alberta
with her job at AGT until she met and married
Joe Fleury in 1964. Joe and Sheila then moved
to BC and raised their family there.
They both loved to travel and travelled
extensively to many countries around the
world. When Joe retired, they moved back to
Turner Valley to be with family and friends.
Sheila had a seven-year battle with cancer and
was lucky enough to control it. She participated
in cancer clinic trials and was able to help
many lives, which her family is forever
proud of her for it.
Sheila loved her family dearly and was loved
dearly back. She will be missed beyond words.
Sheila was predeceased by her father and
mother, Cliff and Eilleen Vandergrift and her
husband Joe.
Sheila leaves behind her sisters Ardeth Neish
(John), Colleen Henderickson (Jim) and her
children Jody Fleury (Leigh-Anne), Nicole
Dobson (Chris) and her grandchildren Cassandra
(Jesse), Garrett (Marie) and Carleigh. Sheila
adored her grandchildren. Also left to mourn are
her nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank
you to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and the
Foothill Hospice for their exceptional care
and kindness.
